File & folder backup
Your files,backed upevery night.
File and folder backup copies the files and folders you choose to our Canadian cloud every night. You can get any file back in minutes. It does not back up Windows or your programs, so if the server fails it has to be rebuilt before your files come back. That takes days.
Typically 2–5 business days after a server failure: source hardware, reinstall Windows, reinstall and license every application, then restore the data and reconfigure. Individual file restores, by contrast, take minutes.
How it works
From backup to back at work.
We choose the folders together
Documents, shared drives, database exports, images. We make sure nothing important is left out.
The backup runs every night
Changed files are encrypted and sent to our Canadian cloud. Older versions and deleted files are kept, so you can go back to last week if you need to.
Get any file back in minutes
One file, one folder, or last month's version. Log in, pick it, restore it.
If the server fails, it has to be rebuilt first
Buy or repair the hardware. Reinstall Windows. Reinstall and license each program with its vendor. Then restore the files and set everything up again. This takes days.
Back to work
Once the rebuild is done and the files are restored, your staff can log in again.
What's included
- Nightly backup of selected files and folders
- Version history and deleted-file recovery
- Encrypted, stored in Canada
- Fast restores of individual files and folders
- Daily monitoring by our team
- Windows Server and Windows 10/11 supported
What it doesn't do
- Does not back up Windows itself, installed applications, or settings
- Cannot virtualize or boot a failed server
- No screenshot verification, because there is no bootable image to test
- Server failure means days of rebuild before data can be restored
Recovery takes days.
Your files are safe, but your server is not. The days between the failure and the rebuild are the real cost. Use the downtime calculator with a 3-day recovery to see what that means for your business.
Who it's for
A good fit when…
You're protecting documents, not systems
A small office with no line-of-business server, where losing a day or three of access is an inconvenience, not a crisis.
Budget is the deciding factor
It's the most affordable tier, and a real step up from an external drive in a drawer.
You want a second layer
Some clients run file backup alongside BDR for long-term archive of specific folders.
